Can I get
fingerprinted at the Johnstown Police Department for a civilian Job
Application?
No. We are no longer able to fingerprint
civilians. It must be done on a digital print machine that we do
not have at the present time. |
Does this police
department permit civilians to ride with police officers?
If you would like to ride with an officer, a civilian ride
along form must be completed. If the rider is a juvenile, the form must
be completed by a parent or legal guardian. Only 2 ( two ) ride alongs
are permitted per year unless special permission by the chief of police
is reserved. |
How can I obtain a
copy of a police report?
Please note that all requests for copies of reports have a
minimum three day processing period.
Police reports that pertain to cases that have not been
adjudicated will be released only with an Order of Discovery filed
through the Village Prosecutor.
Police reports that pertain to cases that have been adjudicated may be
requested in person or by mail. There is a $3.00 fee per
report. This fee is waived if the requesting person is the named
victim in the report. If requesting by mail you must include a
stamped, self-addressed envelope along with your payment.
Please note that any personal information subject to the Privacy Act of
1974 will not be released by the Department.
The administrative assistant is responsible for releasing
copies of reports. There is no cost for in person requests, however, if
you mail a request there will be a $3.00 charge. If the request is for
a public record, a public records request form must be completed by and
reviewed by the village attorney before the record is released. |
Do
you give tours of the Police Department to groups?
Yes! In fact, we encourage organizations to take tours
to
learn more about the jobs of our officers and dispatchers. |
How
many police officers are employed by the Johnstown Police
Department?
As of January 1, 2008, the Johnstown Police Department
employs 9 full time officers and 12 auxillary. |
Will
the police department check my residence while I am away?
The police department will provide extra security checks
while you are away from your residence for an extended period of
time.
A house security check form is available in the police office and can
be dropped off day or night. |
Are
police employees trained in first aid and CPR?
All police officers are trained
annually in first aid and CPR. |
